Teaching Philosophy

When it comes to teaching the foundations for a successful artist, its important to teach the balancing act of confidence and commitment. Creating a safe and inspiring environment will helps foster this growth. It’s important, especially in project based learning,  to be on top of deadlines and meeting the classroom goals. This is achieved through organization and accountability.

A confident teacher inspires confidence in their students. Especially within the skill sets in an art class. This also relates back to the teacher's performance. High performance in teaching correlates to high performance in student learning.

Not only do I have a wide range of technical experience, I also have proficient knowledge in art history. I love to learn about specific artists, movements, and periods. I often incorporate my influences in art history in my own personal work, as well as lessons I’ve instructed over the years.

In essence, my teaching philosophy is designed to foster an artistic community that will prepare students how to have an open honest critique, while staying creatively motivated, comfortable, and successful inside and outside the classroom.
